Technology Integration strategies based on Learning Theories

Assalamualaikum.. hello everyone.. today I want to share about
Technology Integration strategies based on Learning Theories. A few part of them are :

1. Situated Learning Theory (Lave)

Lave argues that learning is situated; that is, as it normally occurs, learning is embedded within activity, context and culture.

Traditional Learning

Traditional learning activities involve abstract information Theories, written format, memorization… Traditional learning activities are in the classroom. Students might not be able to relate to what was taught as they are not being exposed of how it was used in real life situation, or they do not have the chance to practice it in such situation themselves

Situated Learning

  • Social -  Collaboration and interaction
  • Authentic - Real life examples and interactions
  • Learning naturally occurs in a real life context - Learners become involved in a community of practice
  • Experience within the context , and see the beliefs in a tangible way - Naturally require intended skills and behaviors Natural Success

Role of ICT in Situated Learning

Situated learning is learning in a context by actually doing in the existing culture. Sometimes, providing such a situation for tasks can be:
• Expensive • Time consuming • Dangerous

2. Gagné’s Theory of Instruction

“Organization is the hallmark of effective instructional materials” Robert Gagné

An instructional theory is prescriptive, how to make learning happen efficiently  in addition to take curriculum into consideration.

  • Gagné’s Theoretical Orientation

  1. Sides on behavioristic approaches (teacher-centered)
  2. Focuses on outcomes/behaviors that results from instruction
  3. The results of learning are measurable -> testing
  4. Drill, practice and immediate feedback are effective

  • Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction and Learning
